Person Centred Counselling was originally developed by Carl Rogers in the 1950's , and has become a very popular counselling approach in the UK with many prominent counsellors developing further the theory behind Person Centred Counselling . The strength of this approach and the basis for all counselling is the relationship between the client and the counsellor , Carl Rogers theory which he proved through years of practise and research is that if a client experiences an environment in which they feel heard, understood , not judged yet accepted by their Counsellor , they will find that they can become self directioning and self determining. Person Centred Counselling is therefore not a technique nor about telling the client what to do , it is about listening to the client and enabling them to experience an environment which I have just described , that has the capacity to enable clients to decide what is right for them.
If you work with me you will experience through our relationship an environment that I will endeavour to provide without limit or condition . I have found during my time as a Counsellor , that working this way has helped enable many clients find their own direction , and that my strengths as a Counsellor are my willingness to engage with any client with any difficulty or feeling .
Obviously the only way to know whether I am the right person to work with you , or that the Person Centred Approach is for you , is to experience it.
